Xbox Live Games With Gold November 2016 Sees Four More Titles for Free

Nov 02, 2016 11:54 AM EDT

At the start of every month, if you are an Xbox Live Games with Gold subscriber, surely you would be on the lookout as to which four titles will be made available for free. For the month of November 2016, the fare is not exactly a gamer’s epicurean delight, but then again, neither is it nothing more than an Oreo cookie with empty calories. Far from that.

For the month of November 2016, Xbox Live Games with Gold subscribers should be on the receiving end of two titles for the Xbox One and another two titles on the Xbox 360 -- as usual. Needless to say, those who own the Xbox One would have an advantage for the simple fact that the Xbox 360 titles are also playable thanks to backwards compatibility, while Xbox 360 owners who are still somehow limping along to previous generation technology will only be able to enjoy their free Xbox 360 titles.

Free games for the Xbox One
The free games that are available for Xbox One owners who have an Xbox Live Gold subscription would be Super Dungeon Bros and Murdered: Soul Suspect. The former would normally cost $19.99 a pop, and so is the latter. Super Dungeon Bros will be available as a free download for the entire month of November, while Murdered: Soul Suspect will only be made available to those who qualify for it from November 16th to December 15th.

Xbox 360 free games this month

As for owners of the Xbox 360, Monkey Island: SE which normally costs $9.99 a pop will be made available for free, at least within the time window period of November 1st to November 15th. For the second half of the month, Xbox Live Gold Members are able to download Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon which would normally cost $14.99, all the way till the end of the month.

Of course, the usual disclaimer applies: these titles mentioned here are free downloads only for qualifying Xbox Live Gold members in all markets as long as Xbox Live is available there. Certain regions might come with different titles, based on market availability.

Microsoft announces 8 more backwards compatibility titles
Microsoft has an early Christmas present for its Xbox owners, where there will be up to eight more new backwards compatibility titles. We do know that Blue Dragon will also be making its way to Xbox One Backward Compatibility, as that was already revealed earlier this year by Xbox chief Phil Spencer. Other titles that will be part of the backwards compatibility program have not been unveiled just yet, although we do know that the Bioshock trilogy and Skate 3 will be part of the deal.

What are some of the titles that you would like to see make it to the backwards compatibility list? Apart from that, do you think that November’s offerings for the Xbox Live Games with Gold program is par for the course, or did it exceed your expectations? Maybe December's list will be a blockbuster one as folks start to gear up with the Christmas spirit in mind.
