Teams in the NFC division of the NFL continue to battle it out but there are already some that are emerging as the potential North and South title holders. Based on their respective performances and upcoming games, these could be the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons respectively.

For the North title, it probably wouldn't come as a surprise if the Lions claim this since they have already emerged as the clear contender in this subdivision. Holding a record of 8-4, they are clearly way ahead the No. 2 contenders, the Minnesota Vikings, according to Bozeman Chronicles.

Aside from this, the Vikings just came from a huge loss against the Dallas Cowboys. And even if they are able to defeat the Jacksonville Jaguars at Week 14, they'll most likely lose at Week 15 when they take on the stronger team the Indianapolis Colts.

As for the Lions, they are currently coming from a four-game winning streak that will most likely continue next week. Sure, they'll probably lose to the Cowboys but this will not be enough for them to drop behind the Vikings.

As for the teams leading the south, both the Falcons and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are tied at 7-5. Right now, the main edge that Tampa Bay has over Atlanta is its four-game winning streak. Although this could turn to five when they take on the New Orleans Saints at Week 14, the winning streak will most likely end when they face the Cowboys, which has proven to be a force to be reckon with this season.

One loss for the Buccaneers could derail their season, leaving an open door for the Falcons. As for the Atlanta squad, although they just received their fifth loss of the season from the Kansas City Chiefs, they'll still be able to improve their record within the next couple of games.

The Falcons are scheduled to take on the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers, two teams that are going through their own struggles. If the Falcons are able to maintain their composure, they'll be able to beat these two teams to gain an edge over the Buccaneers and possible take the NFC South title.
