A former Christian school teacher who faces charges including sodomy, rape and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor after having an affair with a 15-year-old student once said she believed "God opened the door for her" to become a teacher.

Andrea Nicole Baber, 29, a teacher at Logan Christian Academy, was arrested at her home in Cottage Grove on Friday, the Register-Guard reported, after her husband allegedly walked in on her and the teen in bed.

Baber worked at Logos Christian Academy in Springfield where she taught Language and Literature, Writing II and Speech Communication, according to reports. Authorities said that Baber was no longer employed at Logan Christian Academy, but her staff biography remained Monday on the school website.

"Andrea has always felt called to work with youth and is very excited that God opened the door for her to be part of the Logos team," her biography says. "She lives with her husband, dog and cat just south of Eugene."

The victim's father reported the sexual relationship Dec. 12 after he and his wife received an anonymous email asking if they knew about their teenage son and Baber, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Douglas County Circuit Court on Monday.

Attached to the email were several photographs of Baber and the boy, together in Baber's bed, according to the affidavit. Authorities subsequently interviewed the teen, who admitted he and Baber had been in a relationship since 2016, when the boy was 15.

"According to the affidavit, the boy told deputies that their relationship started with flirting at school, kissing at the movies and eventually progressed to sexual acts. He estimated having sex with his teacher once or twice a week at her residence on Territorial Highway, the affidavit states. He also told deputies that Baber occasionally gave him marijuana and alcohol," notes the Register-Guard

Currently, Baber is charged with third-degree rape, third-degree sodomy, unlawful delivery of marijuana to a person under 18 years of age, online sexual corruption of a child and contributing to the sexual delinquency of a minor. She is being held on $456,250 bail at Douglas County Jail.

On its website, Logos Christian Academy describes itself as "a non-denominational Christian school. We serve families representing many different churches."

The school says its mission is to "teach students spiritual truth and inspire them to have a personal transforming relationship with Jesus Christ" and to "train and equip students to be capable, disciplined, confident young men and women eager for a lifetime of sacrificial service to our Lord."
