Cardinal Walter Kasper, The Vatican's senior ecumenical officer, visited the churchwide offices of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), Oct. 1-2, to commemorate the 5 year anniversary of the joint Lutheran-Catholic Declaration on the Doctrine of Justification. His sermon, which took place at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Park Ridge, Ill., emphasized the need to continue the ecumenical dialogue between the two groups.
