If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you rain in its season, and the ground will yield its crops and the trees of the field their fruit. Your threshing will continue until grape harvest and the grape harvest will continue until planting, and you will eat all the food you want and live in safety in your land. (Leviticus 26:3-5 NIV) God swore to Abraham that he will make Abraham’s descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky. But when Sarah's womb was closed and had no hope for a child, Sarah and Abraham sought after their own ways to bring about a child. Abraham took Sarah’s maidservant, Hagar, and bore Ishmael. Then, God appeared to Abraham and Sarah and confirmed his covenant that Abraham will greatly increase numbers. Then, God asked Abraham to circumcise all male in Abraham’s clan. Abraham obeyed and circumcised himself and all male in his family even Ishmael and his servants. When Abraham relied on God’s promise and obeyed, Abraham received Isaac, the children of promise. The Lord wants to bless us, but are we forgetting to obey the very word of God? When we obey the Lord’s command and follow his ways, we will have an abundant life of joy and happiness. We will dwell in the Lord and live happily with him.
