Kochi, India., Nov. 15 - 'SathyaDeepam', a widely circulated Malayalam Christian weekly, has brought out its English edition.

The founders of the 76-year-old weekly had originally planned to bring it out in both English and Malayalam, Fr Paul Thelakat, chief editor of the weekly, said in a press release here.

The English edition would serve as the "window" of the Christian community in Kerala and India, he said, adding it would mirror the Christian spirit. The edition will be "news-and-views" with a positive outlook based on faith, hope and charity, he said.

The paper will initially be a fortnightly tabloid of 16 pages costing Rs 4.

The inaugural issue was released by Cardinal Varkey Vithayathil at a function at the St Mary''s Basilica here on November 8.

Archbishop Cyril Mar Baselius, president, Catholic Bishop''s Conference of India, received the first copy.
