Jeremy Lin Commits to 'Building New Future' in Offseason Practice Video 'Reloaded'

Jul 31, 2013 09:07 AM EDT

Houston Rockets point guard Jeremy Lin released Tuesday his latest Youtube video called “Reloaded,” showing his offseason training and practices. Scenes of Lin breaking out in massive sweats after regimented workout routines confirm that he is on-track in his offseason goals: getting healthy, becoming better all-around shooter, and a better defender.

While Lin’s eight game-winning streaks in New York won him the global stardom, the 24-year-old NBA star does not remain complacent and comfortable in his past accomplishment. Instead, he is striving for something greater.

“Everyday, I'm focused on becoming a better player. I’m not living in the past of Linsanity. I’m building towards the new future,” Lin said in his latest video, which concluded with a Bible verse from Philippians 3:14 shown on black screen: “I pressed on towards goal to for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

Published on July 30, the video follows Lin to practice at Gatorade Sports Science Institute, Rockets’ practice facility, and back at home in Palo Alto, California. It has already attracted over 200,000 views.

Towards the end of the video, Lin used a “jutsu,” an ability of a ninja from the manga and anime series Naruto, where it showed nine replications of him standing at different locations around the court’s perimeter and making all the shots at the same time.

“Used a replication jutsu in my latest youtube video ... wow I just made a naruto reference #Reloaded,” the young basketball player tweeted.

Rockets Coach Kevin McHale said earlier this month that he is confident that the Rockets can “compete with anybody” for the 2013-14 NBA title with NBA seven time All-Star Dwight Howard signing on from Los Angeles Lakers.

With NBA All-Star Dwight Howard anchoring the middle, Lin, James Harden, Chandler Parsons, and other teammates are hard at work to form team chemistry in preparation for the upcoming season. Team spirit and humility are essential characters for the team to achieve greatness.

Lin said before that he believes humility is the most important characteristic of any professional sports player. After attending church service on Sunday, he tweeted about “fight pride daily and working heartily unto the Lord! Colossians 3:23.”

In addition to basketball practices, Lin is scheduled to share his life testimony and preach to around 18,000 youths in Taipei, Taiwan, on August 17th. Upon his return from Asia, he is teaming up with Best-selling author and pastor Francis Chan to lead a large-scale "Identity Unleashed" evangelistic conference in the San Francisco Bay Area on Sept. 7, 2013.
