Some biggest names, including Tom Guiry, who played the main character Scotty “Smalls,” and Mike Vitar, who played the team’s star player, “Benny the Jet” Rodriguez, were unable to make the reunion held in Salt Lake City, Utah. However, the stars who did show up include Patrick Renna (“Ham”), Chauncey Leopardi (“Squints”) and Shane Obedzinski (“Repeat”) as well as the writer and director David M. Evans.

During the reunion, Evans proposed to his girlfriend, which further dramatize , whose acceptance in a way reflected the Sandlot movie’s festive mood of young baseball players aspiring to achieve greatness while forming the unbreakable bond of friendship and trust.

The Sandlot was not a box office hit at the time, but it was embraced by an entire generation when it was released in VHS and television.

Although Guiry wasn’t able to participate, he told The Huffington Post earlier this year that Sandlot “brings people back to a time in their lives that it was fun and kind of innocent. They didn’t have to worry about bills and work. It was a carefree time of everyone’s life. It’s fun to watch people reminisce about it.”

Set in the 1960s, this movie features fifth-grader Scotty Smalls, teased for being a dork when he moves to a new town. Not knowing how to even throw a baseball, Scotty is recruited by a neighborhood gang leader to play on a nearby sandlot field. The story follows nine boys as they embark on a magical summer of baseball, adventures, first kisses and confrontations with a deadly beast.
