iPad Air 3 Release Date Rumors: Apple to Reveal a New iPad Before Year Ends?

Critics of the tech world were impressed with Apple when they introduced the new iPad Mini 3, but, with the minuscule upgrades, people are pondering if Apple will issue another iteration by the end of the year.

In a report by MacWorld, the iPad Air 3 release for 2015 is highly unlikely. The latest that Apple could release the new product is March 2016, which could be a marketing strategy so the iPad Air 3 would not be in direct competition with the iPad Mini 3 sales.

After the launch of the iPad Air 2, Apple fans have already been anticipating the next installation of the design series. The anticipation grew after they made the iOS 9 available, which improved the basic navigation features of Apple smartphones and tablets.

Considering Apple's track record on product launches over the past few years, it is highly probable that the new iPad Air 3 will be in line with 2016 events.

Though there were no hints or mentions about the new iPad Air 3 on previous events this year, it is still being regarded as a top product by Apple.

Rumors also point out that the iPad Air 3's delay is because Apple is focused on the iPad Pro. A report by 9to5Mac backs this rumor. Sources from Asia revealed that Apple is directing its attention and resources into making the iPad Pro a success. They want to ensure that their tablet line would survive, and they cannot take a gamble on similar products entering the market.

Extreme rumors also suggest that Apple could decide to discontinue the entire iPad Mini line after they release the iPad Mini 4. Though there is no official word about this yet, reports suggest that this would depend on how the market reacts on the company's product launches.

On the other hand, iPad Air 3's suggested design is promising. Aside from slimmer and sleeker style, the new battery could also be a key feature that will boost its success. Cult of Mac reported that the thin battery will just be 5mm in thickness. This is a big upgrade compared to iPad Air 2's 6.1mm battery. The iPad Air 3 could also have a 7000-series aluminum body like the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. There could also be color choices like Silver, Space Grey and Gold. Because of the close similarities to the iPhone 6 series, the new iPad Air 3 could just be a larger version of the smartphone line.
