Super Smash Brothers is a definite hit for Nintendo Wii and 3DS.  Creator Masahiro Sakurai had a special presentation today on Nintendo Direct where he announced the final DLC (downloadable content) characters of the fighting game.  These new DLC characters include Bayonetta and Corrin from the Fire Emblem series for February, and Cloud from Final Fantasy VII available now, with much more DLC on the way.

According to EuroGamer, Nintendo recently announced Bayonetta and Corrin from the upcoming Fire Emblem Fates as upcoming downloadable characters for Super Smash Brothers on 3DS and Wii U.

Corrin represents a character from the successful Fire Emblem RPG series, and he can attack using a special sword.  He also has a Final Smash torrential waterspout which catches all the enemies nearby.  According to IGN, Corrin will have male and female versions available for players.  Those that purchase Corrin on the Wii U will receive two new Fire Emblem music tracks, while 3DS players will get Ryoma and Xander trophies. His release date is set for February 2016, available for $4.99 individually on the Wii U or 3DS, or for $5.99 as a bundle for both systems.

As mentioned before, Corrin is going to be the star of the upcoming Fire Emblem Fates, which will launch on February 19, 2016 in the United States.  There is going to be two versions, Birthright or Conquest, that will be available to experience both sides of the story, with a third version known as Revelation that will be available for download.  There will also be a collector's edition that includes all three versions.

Bayonetta is also due to arrive in February.  The decision to include Bayonetta was from a top choice from Nintendo's poll, in Europe.  Bayonetta was in the United States top five, among other characters from the franchise that include Ice Climbers and Wolf RIP.

According to Polygon, she will have two costumes, one based on her appearance in the original Bayonetta and another featuring a shorter hairstyle from Bayonetta 2.  She will have four guns, one in each hand and one on each foot.  She can also slow time using her witch powers.

Another new DLC character will be Cloud from Final Fantasy VII.  Cloud has a Limit Break mechanic which the player can charge.  When the Limit Break meter is full, the player can gain a slight boost in stats, and get one good attack move.

Cloud is available today for Super Smash Brothers, along with some other things.  For example, Final Fantasy's Chocobo costume will be available, as well as Geno from Super Mario RPG.  There will be some new costumes available in the future that include Ashley from Wario Ware and Tails from Sonic

Another bonus will be a new Bayonetta-themed stage, the Umbra Clock Tower, which features a falling clock tower platform from Bayonetta 2.  There will also new trophies including Jeanna, Roding, and Cereza.

In case you are wondering why these characters will be the last DLC characters available for the hit game, this is by design.  Last year, according to VG 24/7, Masahiro Sakurai has described the previously released MewTwo DLC as an "experiment".  Sakurai did not want to see criticisms that the game was "cutting up content to sell characters one by one, or that we are adding things later that should have been there from the start". Sakurai also considered all the hard work put in the game, and the current roster is heavy with powerful playable characters.
