The Dallas Cowboys broke the hearts of millions of their fans when they failed to land a playoff spot this NFL season. However, there is one person who might actually be even more devastated than anyone else: Tony Romo. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback injured his collarbone in Week 2 of the season, thereby casting a shadow to the Super Bowl dreams of the NFL team. The fear of churning out devastating performances without Romo became a reality as the Dallas Cowboys now hold a measly 4-12 record.

While a number of factors affected the NFL team this season, such as the issues concerning Greg Hardy and Dez Bryant as well as the departure of DeMarco Murray, Romo's absence is said to be a major cause of concern. Although he is optimistic about his chances of making a comeback next season, some fans of the Dallas Cowboys feel that a quality quarterback is necessary to ensure a successful run next time. With this in mind, Romo expressed his openness in the football team's possible move to sign a quarterback that might actually put him in second place.

"We're going to evaluate everybody, and the organization is going to look at who to take, and they're going to take the best player," said Romo, according to ESPN.

He added, "If the best player there is a quarterback, then that's what our team needs. Our team needs good players. That's what we need. And if it's the best player at a different position. I'm just obviously a player on the football team, and I don't have to make those decisions, and I'm glad. My job is to go out and get better and make sure this team wins next year. And I'm going to do everything in my power to ensure that."

One of the names included in the potential Romo replacements in Johnny Manziel. With the unstable status of the quarterback in the Cleveland Browns roster, it is speculated that Jerry Jones might make a move to sign him soon. This prediction is not entirely surprising as the Dallas Cowboys owner had been quite vocal in his admiration for Manziel.

"I want you to know that almost as I was handing in the card, it was that close to putting that Manziel card in. It was that close," revealed Jones in an earlier interview, according to the Washington Post.

He went on to state, "I looked over to my son, Stephen and I said, 'I took the right pick. [Martin] was the top player by three players on our board at the time that we were sitting there looking at [Manziel]." Jones further noted, "The question was, 'Could we make it work with Tony Romo during the period of time that we are going to have Tony?' And by the way, my expectations are that Tony will be our quarterback several years to come as we move along."

The Dallas Cowboys signed eight players from the practice squad to their reserved/injured list, according to an official press release. These include linebackers Keith Smith and Derek Akunne. Efe Obada, Mike McAdoo and Buddy Jackson, all defensive ends, are part of the list as well. Rounding up the group are wide receiver Donte Foster, cornerback Brandon McGee and running back Ben Malena.
