Nintendo's first smartphone app, MiiTomo, surges in download charts this week. The Japanese tech company proudly announced on Twitter that the social networking app has already been downloaded over 10 million times worldwide. Additionally, the company says it will release a pair of new games this fall.

Now, here's details on how to download MiiTomo for Android and iOs system.

The hit smartphone application is available on Google Play and iOS App Store . One of MiiTomo's breakout features is the MiiFoto, a game mode that lets users personalize their Mii avatar and put it on a photo. Business Insider reported more than 20 million MiiFotos have been created, and most people shared it on their social media accounts.

Users can customize their Mii avatar by selecting accessories and outfits, facial features, hairstyles and more. In addition, there's "Getting to know you" questions where users can share their answers to other players. Other elements in the app include putting Mii avatar on of a top a photo to make a real-life-meets-video-game image. As an example, while on a board on an airplane Twitter user Craig Harris placed his avatar on the plane's wings.

MiiTomo is so popular to smartphone users. It dethroned Snapchat as the top free app in Apple's App Store.

To celebrate the 10 million-download milestone, Nintendo teased fans about a 10-day promotion that will happen next week, from April 29 to May 8. The company has not yet announced any details about the promotion, but for sure, it is a big treat for fans.

Furthermore, Nintendo announced they will release two new apps later this year. The official names of the apps are still being kept under wraps, but they will be based on existing franchises of "Fire Emblem" and "Animal Crossing."

Fire Emblem is an RPG strategy game that involves an army of soldiers. The Japanese gaming company says the upcoming new version will be more accessible to users in comparison to its gaming console version. The previous Fire Emblem was intended for more serious gamers, and its next version aims to translate that to the smartphone environment.

On the other hand, Animal crossing is a series of games. It's unclear if the new app will be a new title in the series, or an add-on in the existing game.

Interestingly, the company also said it would release approximately five new smartphone titles by March 2017.
