‘Resident Evil 5’ Gameplay, Updates and Release Date: Game Coming to PS4 and Xbox One this Month

Capcom has officially announced that it will be releasing a new version of "Resident Evil 5" for next generation consoles later this month. According to the developer, aside from its visual improvements, it will also come with a new game mode.

Earlier this year, Capcom unveiled that it will be re-releasing various "Resident Evil" games for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. This started with "Resident Evil 6" when it a new version of it came out for these consoles in March of this year. The company also noted that "Resident Evil 4" will arrive sometime in 2016.

So, following to release of "Resident Evil 6," Capcom announced that Xbox One and PlayStation 4 gamers will be able to enjoy the new version of "Resident Evil 5" once it comes out on June 28. According to the game's details over at the Xbox Store, it can be purchased for $19.99 once it comes out and has a file size of almost 16GB.

As to what fans of the game can expect in the new version, VG247 noted that the "Resident Evil 5" re-release will run at 1080p resolution. This means gamers will be able to play it at a higher frame rate than its Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 counterparts.

Of course, aside from its improved graphics quality, the new version will also feature the No Mercy mode, which, in the original, was only available on the PC platform. In addition, the re-release will also come with the game's previously released DLCs.

The game will also come with a new game mode dubbed as Mercenaries Unlimited. According to sources, this is a combination of the minigames Mercenaries and Mercenaries Reunion of the original "Resident Evil 5."

The Mercenaries minigame first debuted with "Resident Evil 3." Originally, for "Resident Evil 5," Mercenaries can be played on offline multiplayer. But, through a patch, gamers were able to enjoy it in an online game setting.

So, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, gamers can expect that the co-op gameplay of the main campaign and the Mercenaries Unlimited can also be enjoyed online.
