Android 7.0 Nougat Update Release Dates for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3, Z2, X, XZ, XA, XA Ultra, and X Performance

While it is terrific that Android gets an upgrade every year, it isn't like iOS in how universal its rollout is.  The rollout for Android 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) was slow for Sony last year, which leads users of newer Sony devices wondering when Android 7.0 (otherwise known as Android N or Nougat).  This is what is known about the Android Nougat Release Dates for Sony Xperia Z5, Z4, Z3, Z2, X, XZ, XA, XA Ultra, and X Performance.

According to iTechPost, there was a leak from Sony Slovakia's presentation that showed the company's roadmap for the Android Nougat update.  This supposed presentation had a lot of release dates revealed that were not specific, but were at least down to the month of release for Android Nougat on certain Sony devices.

For example, it is stated that the Sony Xperia Performance and Sony Xperia XZ will get the Android upgrade in October of this year.  Then, in November, it will be the Xperia X and X Compact.  The following month of December will reveal that the Z5 (the Z5, the Z5 Premium, and the Z5 Compact) along with the Z3+ and Z4 tablet will get their update.

That means that most of the newer Sony devices will have their upgrade to Android N before the year is out, giving Sony users a real early Christmas gift.  The Xperia XA and Ultra might not receive its particular release date for Android Nougat until early 2017, possibly Q1.

Granted, this is leaked information, and it is also verified by Gotta Be Mobile.  Does this mean that for sure these are the release dates?  Honestly, Sony has a reputation about being pretty slow when it comes to getting the latest release date of Android to even its newer Android devices.

So what is happening now is actually quite good news, as the company was very slow at getting out Marshmallow to its users.  It is quite possible the new version of Nougat will be out for newer devices, because the newer Google devices actually have it already.  That is considered unprecedented because normally the newer Nexus series get it the upgrade first, but there won't be any Nexus series released. There will be new Google device that will have Nougat out of the box, but the early release date is a positive sign for all users of Android.

In other words, perhaps Sony users can be optimistic this year when it comes to the release date for Nougat.  However, let's not count unhatched chickens yet, but wait until the end of October to see if Nougat has come to the Xperia Performance and XZ.  If not, start to be more than a little suspicious about this leaked footage.
