Music industry veteran group NewSong will kick off its sixth annual Summer Jam Tour August 6th in Pensacola, FL. The Summer Jam Tour of 2004 will feature acclaimed artists including Rachael Lampa (Word Records), Shaun Groves (Rocketown Records), debut musicians Taylor Sorensen (Rocketown Records), Jadyn Maria (Sparrow Records) and Overflow (Essential Records). The 14-city tour will make its way to cities including Rochester, NY, Pittsburgh, PA, Corpus Christi, TX and Little Rock, AR, among others.

NewSong, who have produced 12 albums and 17 No. 1 songs, earned its first number one mainstream radio hit as "The Christmas Shoes" topped Billboard's Jan. 6, 2001 AC Singles chart. The chart-topping song and NY Times’ best-selling book later inspired a CBS television movie that was viewed by more than 17 million Americans in December 2002. That year, NewSong was nominated for a GRAMMY among many other accolades, and also received a 2003 “Musical of the Year” Dove Award for “Christmas Shoes.”

“I traveled with NewSong’s Summer Jam tour two years ago and was amazed at how ministry was such a priority for these guys,” says Lampa. “They are totally committed to bringing people to Christ and I’m excited to be a part of that again this year!”

Eddie Carswell, one of NewSong's founding members, explains, "The Jam tours have a history of diverse and talented artists with strong ministry hearts – this summer is no exception. We had such an amazing response this last Winter Jam and hope to continue to see the enthusiasm from audiences this summer. We are humbled that God has given us this platform of ministry and entertainment to use for His glory.”

Jam Tour held a previous event, the highly successful 9th annual Winter Jam Tour which galvanized an audience of 115,000 with invited top artists Audio Adrenaline, Relient K, Todd Agnew and Jadyn Maria. The event attracted 5,000 attendees to make their decision to follow Christ and had nearly 2,500 people sign up to sponsor World Vision children.

“The Jam tours have always been about ministry. We've literally seen countless lives changed for the kingdom and expect this year to be no different,” says tour producer, Troy VanLiere, of VanLiere-Wilcox. ”The artists share similar visions with great compelling music and message.”
