NATCHEZ, Miss. – The “Throw for Dough” winner, who was awarded $400,000 on national television on Dec. 6, credited God for his “victory.”

Chuck Bartlett, a deacon at the First Baptist Church at Natchez Miss., entered a Dr. Pepper contest to win up to $1 million by successfully throwing footballs into a giant Dr. Pepper can. Bartlett made 4 out of five throws from the 5 yard line, missed all five from the 10 yard line and made the bonus at the 30 yard line, increasing his initial $40,000 bonus by tenfold.

After moments of cheering, Bartlett pointed toward the sky and exclaimed, “Thank you Jesus!” while on air. “Jesus Christ gives me all the strength I need to do whatever I need."

When the CBS reporter asked him what he would do with the money, he said he would first tithe to his church, then give to several Christian missionary charities.
