May 25, 2004 08:11 AM EDT

On May 23, "Faith, Freedom, and Family: Battle for Marriage" simulcast was broadcasted live from New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Co., where 3,200 people listened to some of the nation's leading pro-family evangelicals explain the threat same-sex marriage and the importance of passing a constitutional amendment defining marriage to be between one man and one woman.

Event speakers included Focus on the Family's Dr. James Dobson, Prison Fellowship's Chuck Colson, National Evangelical Association's Ted Haggard, Bishop Wellington Boone of the Fellowship of International Churches and Family Research Council's Tony Perkins all spoke live at the New Life Church with the exception of Colson who used a videotaped message.

Over 500 churches and 1,500 radio stations nationwide participated in the simulcast via satellite or Internet broadcast, which began at 8 p.m. EST.

Sponsored by FRC and NAE, the 90-minute simulcast was in response to Massachusetts Supreme Court’s ruling to sanction the issuance of marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The program will reair on Trinity Broadcasting Network this week and be available on VHS and DVD through DVStudios (www.dvdstudios.com).
