Prominent women’s ministry leader Beth Moore is leading women in a summer Bible study beginning June 11. The Siesta Summer Bible Study will last for six weeks, and Moore plans to maintain a blog in order to help facilitate small-group meetings. The study will be on Gideon, the man who was led by God to triumph over the Midianites with just three hundred soldiers.
Participants will use “Gideon: Your Weakness. God’s Strength.” - a study written by Priscilla Shirer. The description for the study reads, “Like everything else in the Bible, this is a story about God and His people. His love for them, as well as His strength operating in spite of their weakness—even through their weakness.”
In the video announcement for the Siesta Summer Bible Study, Moore encourages believers to stay in God’s Word over the summer break - “We love to make absolutely sure that we have a commitment to Bible study in the summer,” she says, “we don’t want to take a break from Bible study, but we do want to have a wonderful summer.”
Moore plans to host Mini-Sessions every other week beginning June 11, where she will offer some additional teaching and discussion topics on her Living Proof Ministry blog. She encourages participants to gather into small groups for study, reminding them that believers ought to build one another up in Christ, pray for one another, and remind one another of God’s faithfulness as they study His Word together. Moore says that she, too, will be in a small group with the staff at Living Proof Ministries.
The well-known women’s ministry leader hopes that women from every stage of life will participate in this study - “Whatever it may be – single, married with kids, married with no kids, our darling widows that are so active on our blog – you may be single and divorced, whatever your background … I don’t know anybody that this Bible study … would not touch and would not move and empower in the Spirit.”
Participants are encouraged to pick up their workbooks in advance, and are able to register for the Siesta Summer Bible study on the Living Proof Ministry blog once the study commences. Workbooks are available at LifeWay stores, and can also be ordered online.
