The highly anticipated show of the year "How I Met Your Mother" Season 9 premiere "The Locket" airs tongiht Sept 23 on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. The final season will reveal how Ted Mosby meets and falls in love with the mother.
The mother is played by actress Cristin Milioti, who appeared briefly on the season 8 finale holding a yellow umbrella in the rain.
CBS' official synopsis reads, "On their way to Long Island for their wedding weekend, Robin and Barney come across a startling family discovery. Meanwhile, Marshall sees something online that changes the course of his entire journey back east, and Lily confronts Ted about letting go of Robin."
In the eighth season's final episode, audiences have a brief glimpse of the mother and her infamous yellow umbrella, on her way to get a ticket to Farhampton.
"How I Met Your Mother" follows the adventures of Ted, Marshall, Lily Robin and Barney. The story, taking place in New York, is Ted's portrayal of how he met the mother of his children.
