Sony releases the Playstation 4 console tonight at midnight, retailers across the country will open and participate in the Nov. 15 midnight launch events.
GameStop stores will remain open the evening of November 14 for the midnight release of PS4. For a complete listing of all U.S. GameStop store locations, visit www.gamestop.com.
Best Buy will also have many stores open at midnight to sell the consoles and for people to pick up their pre-ordered consoles. Tickets will be distributed up to 2 hours before midnight on a first-come, first-serve basis for any available quantities.
If you pre-ordered a PS4 for in-store pickup you will need a government photo ID, the credit or debit card used for the order and your order number. You need to go to the Best Buy where your order was placed, not just any locations. If you can't make the midnight opening, the PS4 will be held for 8 days after. Walmart stores will participate in PS4 midnight events at locations across the country. Visit Walmart's store locator to find your nearest store, and call to ask whether they are holding a PS4 midnight event.
Sony Stores will hold PS4 midnight events, gamers who have pre-ordered a PS4 can pick up a PS4 package beginning on Nov. 13 and line up at the store beginning at 10 p.m. on Nov. 14. Sony Stores will have a limited supply of PS4 bundles, and individuals can line up at 10 p.m. to receive a wristband that allows for the purchase of one bundle. In addition to the PS4 midnight launch stores, Sony has announced two launch events, one in San Francisco and one in New York City. The San Francisco event will be held at GameStop on 830 Market St near Union Square, it will begin at 6 p.m. local time. The event will include playable demos, food and PS4 and PS Vita giveaways.
The electronics giant is holding a launch event Thursday night in New York City at the Standard Hotel, where it will host the event featuring free food, hands-on demos as well as the opportunity to purchase one of 444 newly available consoles, which the company announced yesterday.
Spike TV is broadcasting live from New York City on Thursday night, they will have exclusive premieres and announcements regarding the games available for PS4. That show kicks off at 11 pm ET (8 pm PT), you can watch it on Spike, UStream, Direct TV or on GameTrailers.com.
