'How I met Your Mother' will come to an end after nine seasons, the finale airs tonight March 31 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS. On the Season 9 Episode 23 and 24 "Last Forever Parts One and Two", Ted (Josh Radnor) finally finishes telling his kids the story of how he met their mother.
"I knew for nine years, but I didn't know how they were going to do it until I read the final script," Radnor told TV guide. "I was over the moon. I was so thrilled. I thought it was just such a great piece of writing and such a great [episode of] How I Met Your Mother. Whatever people love about the show, they'll love about the finale."
Fans have spent these last few years spinning the HIMYM theories about who the mother might be, whether or not the mother is dead and what might happen at the end of the show.
The Mother (Cristin Milioti) was finally revealed in the Season 8 finale, and she will meet Ted on the train platform after Barney and Robin's wedding in the series finale. The final hour of the show tonight will chronicle the group's lives in the 17 years between Barney and Robin's wedding in 2013 and 2030, when Future Ted (Bob Saget) is telling his kids how he met their mother.
