Android 4.4.2 KitKat Update for Samsung Galaxy S4: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, C Spire, Verizon

C Spire is finally rolling out the Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade for the Samsung Galaxy s4, even though it is not clear which version of the software is going to be released.

News of this development was unveiled on the Samsung site announcing details for the Galaxy s4 using the C Spire service. The site only mentions that the operation system for C Spire's Samsung Galaxy s4 is Android KitKat, without stating the software version by name. But, it has been speculated that C Spire will be using the newest version of the software, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat. Of important note, the announcement was made by Samsung alone, and C Spire merely states that Galaxy s4 it offers comes with the Android OS.

Other information points to the Android KitKat being available for the Galaxy s4 device with white cover only. There is also a black Galaxy s4 offered by C Spire, but this device comes with the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean instead. Samsung states that the black Galaxy s4 comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but this looks more like a typo on the manufacturer's part.

With such a late announcement, C Spire has the dubious honor of joining MetroPCS as being the last two remaining major wireless service providers to roll out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Samsung Galaxy s4. C Spire also remains quiet about the actual release date of the Android 4.4.2 KitKat for the Galaxy s3.  On the other hand, MetroPCS has not confirmed if their Samsung Galaxy s4 is going to get the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update.

The Android 4.4.2 KitKat has already rolled out for the Galaxy s4 offered by Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon - starting with Sprint in February this year. Even so, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat is awaiting roll out for a number of other Android-related devices and service providers.

On Wednesday, SamMobile released an allegedly-authentic internal memo coming from Samsung that gives a list of mobile devices that will receive the latest Android 4.4 update. Ten Samsung devices were on the list including the Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Note II LTE, Galaxy s3 LTE, and Galaxy s4 Mini.
