One of Victoria's Secret's highest paid models has spoken out about her Christian faith. In an interview with Telegraph, Miranda Kerr proclaimed herself to be a Christian and discussed her prayer life.
"I'm Christian," she said. "I pray every day. I meditate every day and I do yoga. I'm not religious, I'm spiritual."
Kerr said praying is something her grandmother taught her while growing up in Australia.
"To pray and be grateful, have gratitude, is a big thing for me," she added.
Kerr, who has a 3-year-old son with ex-husband Orlando Bloom, left Victoria's Secret a short time ago and is currently working on her "passion project;" a collection of tea china for Royal Albert.
"I'm not limited by modeling," she said. "It's not the be all and end all. I'm very appreciative of it, but if it stops tomorrow, that's not the end of the world, because there's so much more that I'm passionate about as well."
When reporter Jessica Grose asked Kerr about her religion and spirituality, Kerr denied any connection to Buddhism, the beliefs of her former husband.
"No, I'm not Buddhist. Orlando is," Kerr told The Telegraph, adding, "I'm not Buddhist. I'm Christian. I pray every day. I meditate every day and I do yoga. I'm not religious, I'm spiritual."
Kerr says that she tries to be optimistic about life due to her faith.
"When I have challenges now, I feel like I sit with them, I try to look at things, because there's always a positive and a negative to everything."
Last year, Forbes listed her as the world's second-highest paid model, behind Gisele Bündchen. Kerr raked in a reported $7.2 million in 2013, due to her contract with Mango, the Australian department store David Jones, Lipton and Quantas. The model also has contracts with Maybelline and Victoria's Secret, and appeared in the video for the Pharrell Williams song Number 1.
Following her exit from Victoria's Secret, Kerr stated that she chose not to renew her contract so she could focus on other ventures.
"This is a natural evolution," Kerr said in a statement. "The thing is, I've been modeling since I was 13. I'm now entering a new phase in my life. I have felt this coming since my son was born and, after I became a mother, I realized I needed to prioritize my time."
