Samsung is rushing the Galaxy Note 4 release schedule in a desperate bid to beat out its bitter rival Apple, which may be launching the iPhone 6 next month.

On Wednesday, July 30, the Korean Times published an extensive report detailing Samsung's release plans for the Galaxy Note 4.

"Samsung will hold an event to announce the Note 4 on Sept. 3, just few days before this year's IFA trade fair in Berlin, Germany - Europe's biggest technology exhibition," a Samsung top-tier display supplier executive told the South Korean publication.

The source also reported that Samsung officially invited the media as well as industry leaders to participate in the upcoming unveiling event.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Specs Confirmed

Korea Times was also able to confirm many details about the specifications of the tablet.

"The Note 4 will be the first smartphone to incorporate an ultraviolet sensor. The sensor can measure UV radiation and offer index levels to Note 4 users inside the 'S Health' application," confirmed an executive working for Samsung's software partner in Korea.

In addition, the same report confirms Galaxy Note 3 will come with curved OLED display. This is significant considering that virtually all specs information before was based on tech rumor. The rumors also included the UV sensor and S-Health apps, which have since then been confirmed for the Galaxy Note 4.

Regarding U.S. distribution, the report also states that Samsung already made agreements with major mobile service providers. These partners include Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon Wireless. Even so, Samsung remains silent in regards to the actual release date. Still, it is possible that Samsung will be push the Galaxy Note 4 out in early September, right before the Apple iPhone 6 launch.

Over at the Apple camp, information remains scare, too. Earlier, speculation hinted at the possibility of Apple releasing a 4.7-inch and 5.7-inch iPhone 6. Later, it was rumored that the 5.7-inch version would be delayed for launch next year, and the release date for the 4.7-inch version will continue on schedule.

It will be very interesting to see how the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Apple iPhone 6 compare, once they are both released in the fall.
