Playstation Plus Free Games for November 2014; AAA Titles for December and January

Nov 13, 2014 06:01 PM EST

Sony unveiled its new November free games list earlier this month that is coming exclusively for Playstation Plus subscribers who own the Playstation 4, Playstation 4, and Playstation Vita. Subscribers may be pleased to know that Sony has released two games per platform - for a grand total of six free games.

Besides revealing the November lineup, Sony has also teased free AAA titles for Playstation Plus in the months of December 2014 and January 2015. We will explore these developments in the section below.

PS4 Free Games

Topping the list is the RPG-title, The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth. Developed by Nicalis, Rebirth is a remake of the 2011 game of a similar title. Those familiar with videogames will note the Legends of Zelda style of gameplay. Rebirth also features 16-bit pixel graphics, and runs on a non-Flash engine. The premise follows the story of Isaac, who battles through hordes of monsters after fleeing from his mother. According to its developers, Rebirth's levels are randomly generated. In theory, this ensures re-playability. The game is also available on the PS Vita.

The next game PS4 game to be feature this month is Steamworld Dig, which was first released on Nintendo DS in August last year. Steamworld was only recently ported to Playstation 4 in March. Players assume the role of Rusty, the lone mining steambot. The character has the ability to dig through earth to uncover precious gems and ores. Be warned, the world Rusty inhabits is full of dangerous monsters.

PS3 Free Games

PS3 subscribers will be amongst the first players to try out Frozen Synapse Prime, which is newly released in the month of November. The PS Vita version of the game premiered earlier in September. This turn-based strategy game has players controlling an elite team of operatives in the futuristic city of Markov Geist. The team consists of highly-skilled soldiers that include snipers, shotgunners, machine-gunners, and grenadiers. Players will fight against an evil corporation that has control over the entire city. The 3D game features destructible environments and customizable maps.

Released earlier in March, LUFTRAUSERS is a WWII-inspired "shoot 'em up" title. During combat, players will have 360 degrees of motion that simulates aerial maneuvers. Even so, gameplay is restricted to a side-to-side scrolling screen. According to its developer Vlambeer, LUFTRAUSERS has 125 customization options that include bodies, weapons, and propulsion systems for the players' aircraft. Threats that players encounter will include enemy aircraft, warships, and deadly aces.

PS Vita Free Games

The Hungry Horde is game that has players assuming the role of a zombie horde hell-bent on destroying the last remnant of civilization. Developed by Nosebleed Studios, Hungry Horde features a top-down, 3D gameplay. However, the character models look rather boxy and cartoonish. In other words, the game does not have realistic gore - a feature surely welcomed by the squeamish players.

November will include yet another horror-themed PS Vita game on Playstation Plus. The title Escape Plan is puzzle game developed by Fun Bits Interactive. Players control the fate of Lili and Larg through a world filled with dangerous booby-traps and electricity. The hapless duo is attempting to flee from the villain Bakuki, who plans to recycle them.  Escape Plan was first released for PS Vita in February 2012.

AAA Titles for December 2014 and January 2015

Playstation Plus subscribers may be disappointed that November's free games lineup does not feature AAA titles. Still, Sony has teased players with top PS4 games for the Playstation Plus free game lineup in December 2014 and January 2015. This is based on information provided in a recent posting on the Playstation blog.

PS4 subscribers may get to play the ultimate edition of Injustice: Gods Among Us for free in December. In January, the PS4 version inFAMOUS: First Light may be available. Due to the fact that this is an official announcement, there is a good chance that Sony will stick with this plan.
