PlayStation fans are gearing up for a new month of free games through the PlayStation Network as we take a look at what's already been teased by Sony and what else we expect for January 2015.

Starting on Jaunary 6, InFamous: First Light and The Swapper have been confirmed to appear as free games on the PlayStation network. These two games will replace December's free offerings: Injustice: Gods Among Us - Ultimate Edition, Secret Ponchos, The Hitman HD trilogy, Deadly Premonition: The Director's Cut, Final Horizon, and Titan Attacks.

InFamous: First Light is the latest downloadable standalone content in the InFamous series of single-player action-adventure games. It follows the story of Abigail Walker, a young "conduit" who has special powers and abilities that allow her to fight for either good or evil in the game. The first InFamous games in the series followed a different protaganist, Cole MacGrath, but this latest edition is all about this new star and her hunt for the one who saved her, named Brent.

InFamous: First Light originally released on August 27, 2014, and is exclusive to the PlayStation 4. It has so far received a 73/100 Metacritic score from game critics and a 74.89% score on the consumer-based GameRankings site.

The second game in the free line-up is FacePalm Games' The Swapper, a puzzle-platformer that was originally released in 2013 for Windows, Linux, and Mac. The Swapper is a unique side-scroller that allows the player to control a character stranded on a damaged space station. The goal is to escape by solving a series of puzzling challenges to pass through various doors that allow you to progress to the next room and get one step closer to escaping. A hand-held cloning tool is picked up early in the game that allows your character to make up to four clones of himself to help solve the puzzles.

The Swapper is the product of University of Helsinki students Otto Hantula and Olli Harjola who gained funding through the Indie Fund. The independant game was ported to the PlayStation 3, 4, and PS Vita in August, and will come to the Wii U soon.

The popular indie game has so far enjoyed a 87/100 score on Metacritic and a 88.70% score on GameRankings.

Since there are usually six games that become available for free each month, we wanted to speculate on a few options, according to rumors and information around the net.

Apotheon is a game that has already been confirmed to release for the PlayStation 4 in January, and we're betting that its release will be marked with a free offering. The game is a side-scrolling hack-n-slash based around Greek mythology that features a refreshing "vase-painting" style that you may recognize from ancient Greek artifacts.

Another possibility is the wildly popular Suikoden and Suikoden II games that were originally released for the PSOne. Since the network's free games tend to span platforms across the PS3, PS4, and PS Vita, we're guessing that the popular pair -- already announced to release for the network in January -- will be offered through a special promotion during the month.

Other games releasing for the network in January would be coming out too late for the January 6 date on the free game selection, but you can check out the complete list of all games for purchase coming to the network over at the Playstation Lifestyle blog.
