Quantum Break Release Date Update: Microsoft Delays Xbox One's Quantum Break Release To 2016

Saying that it already has an "enviable lineup for Xbox One for the remainder of the year," gaming giant Microsoft Studios, a unit of software behemoth Microsoft, announced it would push the release date of the highly-anticipated action-adventure Quantum Break in 2016. Microsoft is developing Quantum Break exclusively for Xbox One.

"With so many Xbox One games launching this year, moving Quantum Break to 2016 extends our incredible portfolio into next year with a monster new IP," said Shannon Loftis, Head of Publishing at Microsoft Studios.

Loftis went on to say, "We've got the strongest games lineup in Xbox history right now, with 2015 blockbuster exclusives like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fable Legends and Forza Motorsport 6-and more we'll announce in the coming months."

Sam Lake, Creative Director at Remedy and the developer of Quantum Break, also commented, "We're really proud to be part of the incredible Xbox One line-up. We thank our fans for their patience, and want them to know that the team is taking advantage of this opportunity to polish and fine tune the game to create the kind of standout entertainment experience they've come to expect from us."

Stack.com cited an interview with Lake in mid-2014 as he described what makes Quantum Break unique compared to other titles. The web site quoted Lake as saying, "The game (Quantum Break) is about heroes, the show is about villains.  In the game, you play Jack Choice in a desperate fight to stop the fracture that threatens to cause the end of time. In the show, in the style of a modern TV series, you follow the schemes and power play inside Monarch-the corporation that's Jack's main enemy."

In a separate video interview, Lake described Quantum Break, a third-person shooter game, as the "ultimate Remedy game experience" for fans, and said it is expected to raise the bar in gaming experience, reported Segmentnext.com.

He added that in creating Quantum Break, developers at Remedy have hired a quantum physicist to help them incorporate the concept of time travel as accurate as possible. The unidentified quantum physicist reviewed the script and the concept of Quantum Break and made several suggestions.

The inputs of the scientist sent the developers of Quantum Break back to the drawing board to fine tune the story elements of the game as well as some mechanics, the report added.

Lake further explained that Quantum Break will allow players to determine their desired path during the game's multiple events. Each chosen path will lead to a unique dire consequence that will have an impact on the game's world and will affect the story of the level as it progresses.
