Scandal Season 5 spoilers are circulating the web, days after the fourth season finale. The highly-speculated fifth season release date remains unannounced - though there are theories. Also, actress Portia de Rossi has been promoted as a series regular in the cast lineup.

Before reading further, please be aware that there will be spoilers ahead.

Fitz and Olive Back Together Again?

Jake Ballard decides to break up with main protagonist, Olivia Pope. "Liv" is still very much in love with U.S. President Fitz. So, Jake does the noble thing by telling Olivia to go back to Fitz, while still harboring feelings for her.

Meanwhile, Fitz discovers that his wife Mellie is involved with the latest massacre of the grand jurors in the B-613 case. The First Lady had conspired with Chief of Staff Cyrus Beene in the murders. Outraged, Fitz fires Cyrus and kicks Mellie out of the White House. Will this leave room for a renewed Fitz-Olivia affair in Season Five?

Is Huck Going to Find Lasting Peace?

It turns out that it was Huck who murdered the jurors, but under duress from Rowan. The villainous head of B-613 had threatened to kill Huck's family. Though his family is spared, Huck has to live with the consequences when Quinn discovers the truth. She pulls a gun on Huck, who implies he wants to die.

Will Quinn pull the trigger, and end Huck's misery? Or, will Huck somehow redeem himself in the next season?

Mellie for President of the United States?

Prior to the jury massacre, Fitz had been helping Millie to run as president of the United States. The jury killings shock Fitz into withdrawing his support.

Despite publically appearing as the dutiful political wife, Mellie is in fact intelligent and ruthless. She is the perfect antagonist to Fitz and Olivia. A vengeful Millie may return next season, this time in a bid for presidency with or without Fitz's help.

Elizabeth is the New Chief of Staff

Recently, TV Line confirmed what many viewers suspected - that Elizabeth will get more screen time after she replaces Cyrus as the new White House Chief of Staff. The antagonist is played by Australian actress Portia de Rossi, whose credits include Arrested Development and Nip/Tuck.

"It would've been very sad for me not to come back," de Rossi said to TV Line. "And to come back with a guarantee of a few more episodes than [I was in this season] is really fantastic. It's just a great ensemble cast."

Although it has confirmed that Scandal is returning for the fifth season, ABC Network has not announced when filming will begin. Hence, it is unclear when exactly the first episode of Season Five will debut.
