Taiwanese phone maker HTC announced that its iconic HTC One M7 smartphone will not be getting the Android 5.1 Lollipop update anytime soon. Instead, the HTC One M7 will continue to have the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop as its final software update, reported Geek Snack.

However, HTC will release the Sense 7.0 sometime in August that comes with several performance-enhancing features for the One M7. This early, HTC said Sense 7.0 would fix the small bugs in the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Launched in 2013, the HTC One M7 remains popular with smartphone users with many of them hoping that HTC will continue to support the phone with updates.

HTC One M8 to Get Android 5.1 Lollipop in August

HTC UK revealed that the HTC One M8 will get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update August 2015 in United Kingdom. In its official Twitter account,  @HTC_UK, HTC UK wrote, "@JKMcCloskey Hey James, the HTC One M8 will have a Software Update for Android Version 5.1 and Sense 7 in August 2015 :)"

But the Twitter post did not provide details about the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for United States One M8 users although other sources claim that the U.S. release date of the update is set for mid-July.

Master Herald said the new update would provide various improvements to One M8 users that will be upgraded in tandem with the HTC Sense 7.0 operating system. HTC is finalizing the testing for the eventual release of Sense 7.0 two months from now.

Another HTC smartphone that will receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update is the One M9, which is currently running the Android 5.0, although it already has the Sense 7.0 installed to its system. The report added that most of HTCs new phone models will be running on the Android 5.1 Lollipop and the Sense 7.0 operating system.
