Microsoft remains tight lip about the forthcoming release of the Lumia 640, 640 XL, 940, and 940XL. There had been previous rumors that Microsoft will launch the new high-end smartphones with the release of its Windows 10 for mobile.

Early reports said Microsft would release the Lumia 640, 640 XL, 940, and 940 XL in September, but at this time there is still no confirmation if this will push through.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 will sport a Full HD 5MP wide angle front camera with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad-core 1.2GHz processor (3G. It will also feature an 8 gigabyte memory with three hours of talking time. The Lumia 640 has a 5.7 '' display capable of 1280 x 720p resolution.

The Microsoft Lumia 640 XL also has the same a 5.7 inch high definition display like the Lumia 640 but it sports 13 MP main camera. The Lumia 640 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Quad Core processor with 8 gigabyte of memory using 4G LTE network.

Currently, only users in the U.K. can pre-order the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. This was confirmed in the latest report by Digital Trends, which also stated that U.S. customers will need to wait.

So far, three U.S. service providers have announced plans to sell the Lumia 640 and Lumia 640 XL. T-Mobile and MetroPCS will carry Lumia 640, while AT&T will sell the Lumia 640 XL. At this time, none of the companies have given release date information. However, desperate customers can buy the Microsoft Lumia 640 at Cricket Wireless for $129.99 with plan.

The Microsoft flagship smartphones are expected to roll out this fall 2015.
