Tesla has only just posted profits in 2013 for sales on their electric cars and other more green tech components.  CEO and tech mogul Elon Musk envisions Tesla Motors supplying every consumer with an electric car, and he has interesting ones that will be revealed.  One of them is the 2016 Tesla Model S, and this is what is known of the Release Date, Price, and a Review as well as the P85D model.

According to 2016 Electric Cars, the 2016 Tesla Model S is expected to get new software for the battery package.  The 2016 Tesla Model S is also expected to receive a shorter recharge time from both the superchargers as well as from the normal wall outlet.

So what other changes can be expected on the 2016 Tesla Model S?  As far as the front end is concerned, this is going to be quite similar but the headlights will be in a new LED pattern giving the 2016 Tesla S a "slightly more aggressive look".  The wheels will also be changed for a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels with low rolling resistance tires.

The engine of the 2016 Tesla Model S will have the same electric motor as its predecessor to power the rear wheels with a limited skip differential.  The base model will have a 60 kWh battery while higher end models will get an 85 kWh battery, offering over 220 miles of range.  Each model should hit the 0-60 in less than 7 seconds, with the top end model going as 4.3 seconds.  The driver can expect 302 hp and 371 lb-fit of torque or a more powerful 416 hp and 443 lb-ft of torque, depending on the model that he or she purchases.  For safety reasons, the top speed will be 120 to 125 mph.

One of the biggest changes is the 17-inch navigation and infotainment unit that can control all the car's functions, as well as a new hexagonal screen in place of the dials.  The new model allows for wooden, aluminum, and even carbon fiber trimmings.  The 2016 Tesla Model S can be fully charged from the wall for 8 to 10 hours, depending on the state of the battery charge, temperature, and other factors.

In discussing the high-end model of the 2016 Tesla Model S, this could be referring to the P85D, which a separate article from 2016 Electric Cars calls "a refresh and an improvement of the older model".  The P85D is said to have 691 horsepower and 800 lb-fit of torque, and have a range of 270 miles.

The official release date of the 2016 Tesla Model S has not officially been given, but it is estimated that the manufacturer would release the model for sales during the final months of 2015, according to My Cars 2016.  As for the price, the range could be $70,000 for the base model and up to $100,000 for the fully upgraded and equipped trim.  The P85D could cost up to $120,000, and is said to be delivered in the summer of this year.
