Game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts (EA) have just announced plans to release a new downloadable content (DLC) for their popular first-person shooter game Battlefield 4. The DLC, titled "Night Operations," is intended to add a new map along with a host of fresh features.

The game's community seems to be growing steadily that EA decided to treat it with another add-on. Battlefield 4's release back in 2013 was peppered with issues but DICE has managed to pull the game together by offering lots of DLCs, functionality enhancements, and opportunities for players to test upcoming content.

Night Operations will bring along a new map called Zavod: Graveyard Shift. It is a nocturnal version of the Zavod 311 map but it is modified to offer improved sound and gadgets. The idea behind these tweaks is to deliver a more stealth-based gameplay.

EA detailed the new map in a blog entry posted in the official website of Battlefield 4. Community Manager named Fixnow mentioned that Zavod: Graveyard Shift is more than just a pretty map, he explained that "it would need to feature a new sound landscape, destructible lights, and a different sort of gameplay." This lead to us focusing on the creation of Zavod: Graveyard Shift, based on Zavod 311, a new map that brings with it several improvements and tweaks to allow for more stealthy and tactical gameplay.

Aside from this night-time stuff, DICE has also implemented other improvements including better netcode, several weapon adjustments, and a new public server team balancer. The latter was not elaborated further, but Gamespot noted that it will probably help to prevent games from becoming too lopsided which may result to a frustrating gaming experience.

This new Battlefield 4 map will support different game modes such as Conquest, Obliteration, Domination, Rush, Team Deathmatch, and Gun Master. For the first time ever, the developer made a secondary layout for a map especially tailored for the Gun Master mode.

It is a rare move for DICE (though no one is complaining) to release new content for Battlefield 4 considering that its successor, Battlefield Hardline, is already launched more recently. Moreover, the game has already received its last expansion called "Final Stand" in November 2014.

More information about the game's Night Operations DLC are expected to come out soon before its scheduled release this September. EA and DICE has also shared a trailer to showcase the new Zavod: Graveyard Shift map in action. You can watch the new Battlefield 4 clip here.
