At Gamescom, the biggest video game convention in the world held annually in Germany, there was a particular game that caused a lot of attention. It was Scalebound, a game where the player has their own personal dragon. It caused a lot of media frenzy, and it will only be released for the Xbox One. Here is what we know about Scalebound for the Xbox One Release Date and News.

Hideki Kamiya, founder of Platinum Games, was on deck at Gamescom to talk about the newest game. Platinum Games has produced a lot of successful games in the past like Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. Their games are mostly combat-based, but now they are delving into RPG territory.

Engadget reports that Scalebound begins with the player as Drew, a human from our world who is transported into the world of Draconis. The world is full of beauty with floating islands and many big beasts to fight. Fortunately, Drew will have a companion with a dragon known as Thuban, who can actually fight independently. In fact, many attacks from Drew and Thuban are successful only when the man and his dragon can work well together. The dragon is quite a powerhouse, and Drew has many weapons for his fights as well.

Will the game allow you to ride your dragon? Why not? Who wouldn't want a feature like that in a game like this? Considering the popularity of the Inheritance Cycle book series by Christopher Paolini as well as the How to Train Your Dragon film franchise, there is something about wanting to ride a dragon that drives fantasy enthusiasts.

Scalebound allows you to customize your dragon, but only after you collect a certain amount of gems. Customization includes armor, alternate skin tones, and even certain other attacks like ice are possible.

Another feature that was only mentioned at Gamescome was multiplayer. Platinum Games did not go into much detail about that, but they will have some details that will be flushed out, for sure.

Eurogamer also got a chance to view the game at Gamescom, and they are pretty optimistic about it. It is a Hideki Kamiya game, who has produced a string of hits in the past. They don't want to judge it from what they saw demonstrated, as there were problems with frame rate and so forth.

Expect Scalebound to hit the Xbox One sometime in the holiday season of 2016. It certainly has the potential to be a hit game with its style of dragon combat, and if it is a huge hit on the Xbox One, then it will inevitably work its way onto other systems, but players will have to wait for that one.
