Michael Bay has confirmed that he would be directing the next installment of the Transformers franchise. There are hints that it may put the human drama in the background in favor of the encroaching struggle and the real story behind the Autobots and the Decepticons, Crossmap reports.

Fans are patiently waiting for the 5th installment of the 'Transformers' franchise as things are going on as planned: Mark Wahlberg already mentioned since Transformers 4: Age of Extinction that he signed for multiple appearances in the movie. Does this mean he will come back in with the main role in Transformers 5? There's a big chance, but there are no confirmations as of yet.

Meanwhile, Akiva Goldsman will be joining a team of new writers who will be working on the new movie. These include will Andrew Barrer, Gabriel Ferrari, Matt Holloway, Robert Kirkman, Art Marcum, Zak Penn, and Jeff Pinkner. These names have penned shows including The Walking Dead, Lost and films like I Am Legend and Iron Man. It was reported that there will be four more movies coming from the franchise, including Transformers 5.

Crossmap also reports that there are possibilities Shia Labeouf and Megan Fox may be coming back to the film franchise soon, and this may have something to do with reports that Transformers 5 will have its set of spinoffs. How this can be possible when Shia Labeouf announced that he will not be returning to Transformers is a mystery, unless he changed his mind. However, a Shia-Mark Wahlberg crossover will not be likely as their respective timelines in the movie's plot are too far apart.

On the other hand, Ecumenical News mentions that Michael Bay has so much more in store for Transformers and that he's planning to take it to a new direction as he "flexes new muscles."

The rumored storylines will go as such:  The first one happens on Earth following events in the life of Cade Yeager (Wahlberg) and how he teams up with the Autobots and Dinobots to save the world. The second outlines Optimus Prime's journey in looking for his ancestors, the Quintessons, in space. The discovery of these entities will give answer some crucial questions.

Unicorn, a giant transformer, will be expected first to come out Transformers 5, with a battle between him and the Autobots to take place in space.

Transformers 5 will be released on an as of yet undisclosed date in 2017.
