'Jill & Jessa: Counting On' Release Date and News Updates: Jessa Duggar Seewald Sticking With Her Baby's Name Spurgeon Elliot

Dec 05, 2015 02:32 PM EST

Jessa Seewald named her son Spurgeon Elliot Seewald and has no plans of changing it. She shared though that baby Spurgeon is also usually addressed as Quincy.

In the Duggar Family Blog, the former "19 Kids and Counting" star revealed that her firstborn's unique first name is being used all the time, contrary to what is expected. There is only a handful who prefer to call the baby Quincy. "Proud Mama Jessa shared with us that Baby Seewald most often goes by Spurgeon, although some people still call him Quincy," reported the site.

It could be remembered that Jessa and her Ben Seewald claimed they named their child after Charles Spurgeon. Some fans did not like this at all. Spurgeon was a well-known 19th Century preacher whose sermons and teachers had a big influence. Elliot, on the other hand, was inspired from Jim and Elizabeth Elliot, who were two very inspiring late missionaries as well.

Baby Spurgeon was born on Nov. 5, days just after they celebrated their first wedding anniversary. Fans can see more of baby Spurgeon on the upcoming TLC specials, "Jill & Jessa: Counting On." This is a three-part series starring Jessa and her sister Jill Dillard. The two sisters are now married and have lives very different from their lives back when "19 Kids and Counting" was still airing. Both of them are now mothers too.

In a related news, not many are excited about "Jill & Jessa: Counting On," which premieres Sunday, Dec. 13 at 8 pm EST. Many feel that TLC should not have allowed Jessa and Jill back on TV after the cancellation of "19 Kids and Counting. Many also feel that TLC is being too insensitive since the sisters' brother Josh Duggar was engaged in a child abuse scandal.

Viewers are calling to boycott TLC's shows through a new Facebook page. Most are not fine with the Duggars being back on TV shortly after Josh's scandal. Viewers do not care that Josh will not be in this special, especially because Josh's wife, Anna will be on it. This will be the first time that Anna would say anything about what happened with Josh, but it seems viewers are not interested.

The new Facebook page, called "Take the Pledge, Boycott All Discovery Channels," is yet to catch the attention of the network. No one from TLC or the Duggars has reacted to the existence of the page yet.

The page currently reads: "Like this page to take the pledge on Dec 13, 20 and 27, 2015 join us in boycotting all Discovery network channels for the one hour they are airing the TLC show Jill & Jessa Counting on 8/7 c This family minimized childhood sexual abuse showing victims they do not matter."

According to those who supported the page, to allow "Jill & Jessa: Counting On" to air is tantamount to saying the child abuse Josh was charged with is now alright. Josh is currently in rehab for his sexual addiction, but fans do not believe his act is forgivable or forgettable just yet.
