When it comes to the latest upgrade of Android, it always goes to Google's own Nexus devices first.  In the case of the latest version of Android with 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow), it still has to spill out to a lot of newer (less than two years old) Android devices, like HTC.  So far, HTC has made some promises to get its users the latest operating system before the end of the year, and this is what is known about Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date HTC One M9, M8, and M7 for carriers like Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and AT&T.

For a while, the promise from HTC would be that both the HTC One M9 and the One M8 would receive the update to Android 6.0 sometime before "the beginning of the end of the year 2015".  It is pretty vague, and it is a deadline that is closing fast.

It looks like that Android 6.0 is leaking out there, as Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC is retweeting some downloads.  Both of them are about the system update to Android 6.0 and how to update to it, including how long the update will take (60 Minutes).  On December 22nd, Versi tweeted that "the updates to the Unlocked A9 6.0.1 and Unlocked M9 6.0 will be able to be downloaded within next 24 hours!"

That is for the unlocked devices and any device that is locked to a carrier like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular.  Personally, I have an HTC One M9 from Verizon, and my latest attempt to go to "Settings" and checking for a system update has revealed nothing.  So there could be a delay, but we will know in a few days whether or not HTC will keep their promise and bring Android 6.0 to the One M9 and the One M8 before the new year begins.

In addition to the One M9 and the One M8, these particular devices are also slated to receive an update to Marshmallow sometime in 2016:  HTC One M9+, HTC One E9, HTC One ME, HTC One E8, HTC One M8 EYE, HTC Butterfly 3, HTC Desire 826, HTC Desire 820 and HTC Desire 816, according to Tech Radar.

According to Ubergizmo, HTC unveiled a new smart device with the One X9.  It is predicted that this phone will have Android 6.0 right out of the box just like the HTC One A9.  That's right, if you want an HTC phone that has Marshmallow right away, it is possible.

The One X9 (not to be confused with the A9 or the M9) will have a 5.5 inch full HD 1080p display with a metal look.  Then there is a MediaTex X10 octacore processor inside with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB onboard storage with microSD card support.  As far as the camera is concerned, it is a 13 Megapixel rear camera.
