Android M 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date Update For HTC One M9, One M8 for Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, And US Cellular

The Android upgrade to version 6.0 (also known as Android M or Marshmallow) has been out for almost three months, even though very few Android users have had access to it.  Google first gave it to those who had their own Nexus devices, but users of devices on HTC want to know when their turn will come.  This is what is known about Android M Version 6.0 Marshmallow Release Date for HTC One M9, One M8, and other HTC devices for United States carriers like Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and US Cellular.

As it so happens, HTC promised its users of the One M9 and the One M8 that it would give them their Android upgrade to 6.0 by "The beginning end of 2015", according to Pocket-Lint.  This reporter is personally an HTC One M9 user with Verizon, and I have checked my system update on today, January 3rd, 2016.  There is no Android 6.0 available.

As reported by Android Pit, the fine print notes that not all carriers will be able to deliver it.  With Android upgrade rollouts, sometimes the carrier, which would be Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, AT&T, and US Cellular in the United States, actually makes it available to their subscribers at varying times.

Since it is technically the holiday season with New Year's Day falling on a Friday, word of Android updates has been scarce at this particular time.  As far as other devices that will be receiving the update, here is a list:

  • HTC One M9+
  • HTC One E9+
  • HTC One M8
  • HTC One E9
  • HTC One ME
  • HTC One E8
  • HTC One M8 Eye
  • HTC Butterfly 3
  • HTC Desire 826
  • HTC Desire 820
  • HTC Desire 816

For those interested in how HTC processes an Android update, you should check out the HTC Android OS update site and that it is a long and complex process.  Now, HTC has a 90-day promise for updates, and this applies to any product updated for two years following its release.  This is why the HTC One M7, the flagship of three years ago, will not be receiving any Android upgrade.

As stated before, the official Android rollout is about three months old, which means that HTC is still within their limits for putting out Android 6.0 to the HTC One M9 and M8 in Q1 2016 and keep their promise.  There has been times when HTC has been a few days short of this promise, but hopefully this will not happen this year.

According to Ubergizmo, HTC unveiled a new smart device with the One X9.  It is predicted that this phone will have Android 6.0 right out of the box just like the HTC One A9.  That's right, if you want an HTC phone that has Marshmallow right away, it is possible.  In fact, there are two possibilities for that.
