The Super Bowl 50 weekend might be heating up, but it looks like the football world's attention is divided. With the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos headlining the event, other members of the NFL community are gaining media attention. A particular football star who is constantly under the spotlight is Tim Tebow.
The Christian football star's activities have been widely reported regardless of his involvement with the NFL. In the offseason, fans of Tebow harbored the hope that the Heisman Trophy winner will be signed by the Philadelphia Eagles. Weeks of strenuous training eventually ended in a crushing dismissal of the football star.
Before his tryouts for the DeMarco Murray team, however, Tebow was a quarterback for the Denver Broncos. With this in mind, his affinity for the Peyton Manning team appears to be the reason behind his Super Bowl 50 bet.
"I used to play for the Broncos, so I'm kind of partial rooting for them," shared Tebow in an interview with Ellen DeGeneres on the latter's talk show. The NFL hopeful added, "But at the same time, I used to play with Cam Newton when I was at Florida, so I hope he has a great game. But I'm probably pulling for the Broncos, I guess."
Tebow also believes that if the Denver Broncos beat the Cam Newton squad, Manning will be hanging his jersey. Earlier reports have been alluding to the possibility of the NFL MVP's retirement after the Super Bowl 50. This rumor has subsequently made Manning the "sentimental favorite" over the Michael Oher team.
The comments of Tebow shows his lack of bad blood with the Denver Broncos. The Christian star was the first-round pick of the Super Bowl 50 contenders. He was later traded to the New York Jets following the Denver Broncos' acquisition of Manning. Since then, Tebow has been in and out of NFL teams including Tom Brady's New England Patriots.
Despite his failure to get signed in the 53-man roster of any of the NFL teams, Tebow remains optimistic about his future in the league. He said, "If I have the right opportunity. Obviously, I love playing the game so much. I'm in the best shape of my life."
Meanwhile, Tebow also shared with DeGeneres his current romantic status. According to the Christian star, he is not dating anyone at the moment. Needless to say, his single status begged the question of the qualities he looks for in a girl.
"Obviously, someone that I'm extremely attracted to," said Tebow. He added, "I think there has to be more there. There has to be depth. Obviously, you have to have similar beliefs. You have to have chemistry, character, but there has to be something more than just glitz and glamor."
The "glitz and glamors" dig of Tebow is reportedly linked to his rumored failed romance with Miss Universe 2012 winner Olivia Culpo, according to Yahoo UK. However, conflicting reports, later on, came out that the two never even dated.
Aside from Culpo, Tebow has also been linked to one of the 19 Kids and Counting stars. In an earlier report, the former Denver Broncos star was allegedly linked to Josh Duggar's sister: Jana. Rumors claim that the two Christian stars make a perfect couple. However, Jim Bob Duggar and wife Michelle Duggar have yet to comment on the issue.
