‘The Legend of Zelda’ Wii U News and Release Date; Is Nintendo Waiting for the NX?

By now, if you are a fan of the famed The Legend of Zelda series, then you are probably upset that it has been a while since Nintendo has released a new canon Zelda game for the Wii U.  Most consumers of the Wii U knew what they were getting into when they were buying it, with Nintendo saying that there would not be a new Zelda for the Wii U until 2015.  That time has passed, so what is with the little news on the new The Legend of Zelda Wii U Release Date?

Again, most fans already know the reason for the delay, and it was formally announced in mid-2015 that the company would not be able to get a good Zelda game out before the end of 2015, so they chose to delay it.  This means that it is coming out in 2016, or at least it had better.

The issue is that footage of the game has revealed some beautiful scenes of Link on his horse in an open world.  The Legend of Zelda series has always had its open world of exploration as well as missions to solve within the game itself, but nothing as realistic and elaborate like this.  Even with all the splendor and imagination, it does come down to programing and coding, and the reason for the not-so-great of 2015 is probably justified on that alone.

In fact, the graphics and gameplay of this new The Legend of Zelda game look so good that many are suspecting that Nintendo could be waiting until the release of its next-gen Nintendo NX to release this game. At this point, Nintendo really needs a hit console after the disappointing sales for the Wii U, and a brand new improved system would a new game would certainly prime the pump for next-gen sales.  This would lead to a Nintendo NX and Wii U version of the next Zelda game, a move that was similar when Twilight Princess was released to the original Wii and the GameCube at the same time.

Nintendo is a pretty smart company, so if it truly wants to keep up the hype for a new Zelda game, and they want to release it before the end of this year, then you can bet that the next Zelda game will be on display at E3 2016.  The Electronic Entertainment Expo is a big video game convention where the big companies show off their games, so there will be a big crowd around whatever the next The Legend of Zelda game will be.  Perhaps by that time, the game will have an official subtitle and a release date, but we shall see.
