NetherRealm studios revealed that the new characters in Kombat Pack 2 of Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat XL will be released on March 1. The game developer also added the packages come with free Medieval Skin Pack for fighters. Now, here's the latest update about Mortal Kombat X release date and new characters.

Chicago-based game developer NetherRealm announced on Twitter that Mortal Kombat characters will have new skin pack next month. The free medieval-themed DLC will land on PS4 and Xbox One platforms. The developer has not yet announced if the skin pack will become available on PC.

Medieval Skin Pack features new costumes for Kotal Kahn, Kung Jin, and Ferra & Torr.  Based on the leaked pictures, Khan wears a Viking helmet with an alternate variation where snakes appear from his back armor, while Kung appears to be noble-like in an almost iron-clad Knight costume.

Aside from Medieval costumes, there is Apocalypse Pack that includes new outfits for Takeda, D'Vorah and Erron Black. The costumes for Erron and Takeda pretty much appear to be closely the same with Fallout characters.

We previously reported about the new characters that are included in Kombat Pack 2. Expect to see Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Bo Rai Cho--a classic Mortal Kombat character,  Tri-Borg--a new "Kombatant"  and Xenomorph from Alien.

Interestingly, a new video offers a glimpse at one of Xenomorph's fatalities, in which the character impales its opponents with its tail and then rips them in half with its claws. The creature's X-Ray move is also pretty brutal-- where the opponent suffers from Alien's multiple stabs.

The Kombat Pack 2 is priced at $19.99 and Mortal Kombat XL is at $59.99. These titles will be available on March 1.

Previously, NetherRealm released Jason Voorhees, Predator, Tanya, and Tremor as Mortal Kombat X DLC characters. The developer also considered Terminator and Michael Myers as DLC characters for Mortal Kombat X, but it did not happen.

Mortal Kombat X launched in April 2015 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC and has reportedly sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. The game's Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions were canceled.

In a review from IGN, Mortal Kombat X received 8.4/10 score. The reviewer praised the game's wide range of characters and action-packed gameplay.

We'll update this article once the game become available on gaming shelves.
