Tekken is one of those fighting game franchises that is comparable to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.  In fact, Tekken 7 is the ninth version of this fighting game, and it has been released in arcades, but no sign of it showing up in consoles.  In addition to the franchise's arcade popularity, the arcade game will have a sequel with Tekken 7 Fated Retribution.  There is also talk of a crossover between the previous mentioned Street Fighter and Tekken, and this is the news of the release dates and news.

It is odd that Tekken 7 has not been released to consoles as yet.  Last December, a new Tekken game was announced for the arcades known as Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, which will feature some new stages, costumes items, and characters.  It has been reported that this particular version of Tekken 7 won't be out until July of this year.

In conversations about Tekken, it is often difficult to determine if people are talking about the Tekken 7 game or Tekken 7 Fated Retribution, as many people use these terms interchangeably.  The rest of this article will focus on Tekken 7 and its release date for consoles, as well as the Street Fighter crossover.

Yibada reports that Tekken 7 will feature the return of "Tekken Bowl", and there are reports that the game is coming to PlayStation VR, Sony's brand of virtual reality to be used with the PS4.  This new VR version is not going to feature a "Tekken 2 Cheat Mode" like the first person game style, but within the VR mode will be a highlight of Kousuke Waki's character design and offer a different aspect of the game.

According to the Master Herald, Tekken 7 will feature a 1-on-1 style with some brand new gameplay with two modes of Power Crush and Rage Art.  Power Crush allows the player to continue to attack an opponent even when they start taking on damage from them.  Rage Art allows the player to complete several unblockable moves that will deal up to thirty percent damage after the health bar has moved into critical stages, but the player has to turn off the normal attack power increase.  These are the two game modes offered along with the "Tekken Bowl".

One of the things that Tekken's game producer Katsuhiro Harada didn't talk about much is the Tekken X Street Fighter game.  This would crossover two successful fighting video game franchises, but Harada says that they are "pretty far" from completion.  A game like that is bound to be a hit when it does hit its release date.

As far as the release date of the console version of Tekken 7 is concerned, this might not happen until next year.  The earliest predictions are speculated to launch on late 2016 for the PS4 and the Xbox One, but the long awaited game could arrive earlier.
