Globally oriented megachurch Hillsong Church is about to expand to non-stop status by teaming up with Trinity Broadcasting Network to launch a new 24-hour TV network. The Hillsong Channel is slated to launch June 15. The program will feature worship performances, messages from Christian leaders, conferences, documentaries, kids programs, talk shows and features for a global audience.
"This new aspect of the Hillsong global vision is unlike anything we have launched up to this point," Hillsong Pastor Brian Houston said in a statement reported by Relevant Magazine. "It'll be a continuous, 24-7 feed that will be exalting Jesus and empowering people for every part of life."
The pastor has been producing "Brian Houston TV," a 30-minute television program filmed at Hillsong Church.
Hillsong Church is a Pentecostal megachurch in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, which is affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Australian branch of the Assemblies of God. The church was founded in 1983 when the Sydney Christian Life Centre in Waterloo, New South Wales, established by Frank Houston, merged with the Hills Christian Life Centre in Baulkham Hills, New South Wales, established by his son, Brian Houston.
TBN Chairman Matthew Crouch said in a statement about the new channel: "This powerful new praise and worship network will offer an amazing opportunity for us to reach a whole new generation of viewers with the message of hope and grace as we partner with the most iconic and far-reaching presence in contemporary Christian music."
The new network is expected to be available through a variety of cable providers, including Direct TV, Fios, AT&T and Sky.
Whether a person is searching for their calling or wholeheartedly pursuing their life's purpose, Houston preaches that the answer to finding the life God intended for each person lies in understanding the Christian life is an adventure. He encourages Christians to follow the lead of Jesus, and to lead boldly.
Earlier this month, other Hillsong expansion plans were announced when Hillsong pastor Ben Houston, announced the "planting" of Hillsong's new San Francisco campus. Hillsong LA is one of several Hillsong churches globally, including congregations in Australia, France, England, South Africa, Germany and Brazil.
