‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Release Date, New Trailer, and Spoilers of the New Film, Like Wolverine!

It is very unusual for a film to have three different trailers, especially within the last few weeks before the film is about to be released.  Fortunately, for fans of the X-men franchise, the latest and last trailer for X-Men Apocalypse has appeared, it has revealed a lot about the new film, including a surprise guest appearance from Wolverine.

I might as well talk about that Wolverine claws shown at the end of the trailer first.  Fans will remember at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, Wolverine's body is hauled up from the Seine, and then it is revealed that Mystique has become X-Men foe William Stryker.  The reasoning behind this is that Days of Future Past dealt with time travel, and Mystique was insuring that Logan would eventually get his claws so that he would eventually join the X-Men in the future.  In short, Mystique wasn't trying to do deliberate harm, but make certain that the timestream is preserved so the better future revealed at the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past comes to pass.

Yes, that is pretty difficult to think about, as time travel movies can get very confusing, not to mention very inconsistent.   It is been established that X-men: Apocalypse takes place in the eighties, which is about a decade after the world-changing events in X-men: Days of Future Past.  This means that Logan has undergone his transformation into a new breed of super soldier by Stryker, and this would explain the ending shot in the preview.  In other words, it looks like this new film is trying to redo the horribly received X-men Origins: Wolverine like they re-did Deadpool

Until now, it was not confirmed that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his role as Wolverine for this X-men movie, but the imdb page has his name there, so he might have a piece of the action.  It seems like a lot of the trailer focuses on Jennifer Lawrence as she plays Mystique for the third time.

The trailer also shows Apocalypse (Oscar Isaac) is going to be amassing four horseman in some attempt to have some biblical symmetry.  It would appear that Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Angel (Ben Hardy), Psylocke (Olivia Munn), and Magneto (Michael Fassbender) are his recruits.  Apocalypse's plan sounds very similar to the one of Sebastian Shaw in X-men: First Class, as it appears that he wants to destroy the world so his new master race of mutants can take over.

It looks like Apocalypse takes out Charles Xavier (James McAvoy), which means that it is up to Mystique to "bring the band back together" and she recruits Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Beast (Nicholas Hoult), Cyclops (Tye Sheridan), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), and more to combat these apocalyptic forces that are turning major cities into dust...it's a little hard to understand just by looking at the trailer.

However, audience can see all the action when X-Men Apocalypse hits theaters on May 27, 2016, and it should be a wild ride.
