New rumors suggest that the Duggar family is currently pressuring Joy-Anna, who is currently 18 years old, to get married. Although this may seem like a young age to get married, for the popular reality show family, this is the norm.
Fans of the Duggar clan are well aware that two of its female members, namely Jill and Jessa, got hitched at a young age. Jill got married to Derick Dillard when she was only 23 while her sister had her wedding with Ben Seewald when she was 21 years old.
This is probably why at 18 years of age, courtship has been the subject of conversations whenever Joy-Anna is around in "Jill and Jessa: Counting On." Because of this, this led various sources to suspect that certain members of the family, particularly Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, are pushing Joy-Anna to get married soon, News Everyday reported.
Despite the constant talks about the matter, Joy-Anna has always managed to evade the topic. However, even though the family is seemingly pushing her to get married, she can still expect them, particularly her brothers, to be overprotective when someone finally tries to court her.
"I think if guys come around, they're going to have to get through a few guys - I'm talking about me and Joseph," 19-year-old Josiah Duggar said in a recent episode according to The Hollywood Gossip."
"If a guy shows up to court Joy, there will definitely be a lot of us standing back a little bit, kind of checking him out," 12-year-old brother Joseph added.
But even if the Duggar parents are really pressuring Joy-Anna to get married, then there seems to be a bit of a double standard in the household. After all, Jana, the eldest daughter in the family, is still single despite being 26 years old. Her twin brother John David is also not yet married.
However, this is probably because these two, particularly Jana, already acts like she has a family of her own. In a few episodes of "19 Kids and Counting," Jana acted like the mother of the clan by preparing her younger siblings' meals and generally looking after them.
