‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ Cast, Updates & Release Date: New Rumors About Luke Skywalker Will Blow Your Mind

Shortly after the initial stages of production for "Star Wars: Episode VIII" kicked off, various updates about what's in store in the upcoming film have started pouring in. One of these is about the rumored temperament and hidden power of Luke Skywalker, played by Mark Hamill.

Readers, however, should keep in mind that even though this is only a rumor, it still might contain spoilers for the sequel to "The Force Awakens."

As shown in the ending of "Star Wars: Episode VII," Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, travels to the planet of Ahch-To to find Skywalker and possibly train under him. According to Reddit user Bothan-Spy, this planet serves as the location of the original Jedi Temple.

But aside from this, the user also noted that a scene in this planet will show just how powerful Skywalker has become.

"A few weeks ago they blew up - specifically, blew apart - an Ahch-To hut," the user posted. "According to my source, Kylo [Ren] and Rey have a conversation that Luke does not like. Luke tries to stop them. Luke gets angry...and the whole hut they are in disintegrates (re: 'blows up')."

"My source did not specify as to the exact cause of the disintegration, but based on the info I believe Luke accidentally (or perhaps even purposely) does so using the Force," the user added.

Of course, since this detail came from an anonymous source, it can't be confirmed if this will really happen in the film. But then again, it works with Skywalker's backstory since spending enough time as a hermit harnessing the Force probably made him even more powerful compared to the last time movie fans saw him in action.

As for the upcoming film, "Star Wars: Episode VIII" is scheduled to come out on Dec. 15, 2017. It doesn't have an official name yet but other Reddit users claimed to have leaked three rumored titles for the movie. These include "Star Wars: Echoes of the Dark Side," "Star Wars: The Tale of the Jedi Temple" and "Star Wars: The Order of the Dark Side."
