Now that Brandon Mebane is playing for the San Diego Chargers, he shared his honest opinion about his former team, the Seattle Seahawks. According to the nose tackle, the Chargers has more talent than the Seattle franchise.
Mebane began his professional career in the NFL after being drafted by the Seahawks in 2007. For almost a decade, he remained with the team and even helped Seattle dominate the Denver Broncos at Super Bowl XLVIII, which ended with a surprising 43-8 score. This was the first time that the Seahawks won a Super Bowl Championship.
However, earlier this year, Mebane parted ways with Seattle after signing a three-year contract with San Diego. And, even though he's only been with the new team for around two months, he can confidently say that the Charges is better than the Seahawks.
"Offense, defense, there's so much talent on this team," he told the San Diego Union Tribune. "It's unreal. I was telling guys, there's more talent on this defense than in Seattle. If you look at the draft, you've got four first-round draft picks."
"In Seattle, we only had two first rounders and one second rounder," he added. "Everybody else was pretty much down in the draft or undrafted."
Aside from the veteran players of the Chargers, Mebane was also probably referring to the Chargers' picks during this year's NFL draft. In that event, the San Diego had the No. 3 pick in the first round and the team surely did not waste it by getting defensive end Joey Bosa of Ohio State.
For the second round, the Chargers went with tight end Hunter Henry of Arkansas as its fourth pick.
Mebane then went on to say that if everyone on the team manages to help each other out, they will be able to create a formidable line of defense.
"If we put it together and just play together and work on our skill, I think the sky is the limit for this defense," he said. "It's amazing. Based on the skill and the talent level, it's there. All we have to do is believe in each other and play together."
