After a series of delays, Last Guardian's firm release date might be announced at this year's E3. Game director Fumito Euda stated that the much-anticipated game will definitely be coming out in 2016. Now, here's the latest round-up of update about The Last Guardian release date, gameplay and rumors on the web.
The Last Guardian game director announced the game's arrival on Edge Magazine. "Since this is the year we will see the game's release, I do have some worries, but I'm also very excited," the game director said.
Furthermore, Metro gave details about the gameplay of The Last Guardian. The boy in the game will be equipped with a mirrored shield that can be used to control Trico's powers.
"[Trico] can fire a devastating beam of red lightning from its tail, and will direct this power wherever we point the mirrored shield." Euda said in an interview with Edge Magazine.
Trico is an enormous winged creature that has a griffin-like body. At the beginning of the game, players have to build a relationship with the creature to control its powers.
Euda also had an eight-minute interview with IGN about the Last Guardian's long development period. The director said that it was unexpected for him to make this game for a very long time. He was hoping to make something good in a short span of time. He also thought that Ico and Colossus were much longer to develop than the Last Guardian. The game was unveiled at E3 2009 for PlayStation 3 through a huge trailer, but the second trailer didn't show until TGS 2010. Consequently, it was reintroduced on last year's E3 as a PlayStation 4 title.
Although there's no confirmation for its appearance at E3 2016, the information that we have gathered might give the game's release date a chance to be announced in the event.
The Last Guardian's story is about a small boy who has been kidnapped by unknown forces. After some time, he found an enormous winged creature. The boy refers to this discovered creature as "Trico" throughout the game. However, it is unclear if the said name is given by him or someone that we don't know yet. Trico and the boy will go out in different environments but their goal remains a mystery.
