Netflix's Voltron Legendary Defender is set to return for a second season, show runners Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery announced during the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel. Picking up from season one's cliffhanger, expect the season 2 will be more exciting and action packed.

Here's everything you need to know about Voltron: Legendary Defender Season 2 release date, spoilers, and rumors.

During Voltron Season 2 announcement, fans were surprised for the appearance of The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun, who voices red lion pilot Keith.  Aside from the show's return, producers also released the soundtrack of Voltron Season 1, which contains 11 tracks from the series. The album is now available on iTunes.

In the final episode of season 1, members of Team Voltron got separated from each other after evil witch Hagger disrupted The Castle-ship's wormhole. The location of Voltron pilots is still unknown. Next season, we expect the first few episodes will show how the team will get back together.

Season 1 revealed Zarkon is the original Black Lion Paladin. It is rumored that he has been gathering energy for thousands of years, that's why he has so much power. The second 2 might reveal his origin.

Furthermore, Season 2 could show how Shiro escaped from Zarkon's ship, where he was brainwashed and experimented.  His captivity is still a mystery for viewers. It is interesting to know if he has knowledge about Zarkon's power.

Voltron Legendary Defender is a reboot of the 1980s Voltron show. It follows the galactic adventures of Keith (voiced by Steven Yeun), Shiro (Josh Keaton), Pidge (Bex Taylor-Klaus), Lance (Jeremy Shada), and Hunk (Tyler Labine).  The teenagers form the powerful Voltron by uniting their flying robot lions.

A review from Collider says old and new fans of Voltron will definitely love the show. Voltron Legendary Defender is a worthy successor to the original series. It has fast-paced action and thrilling storyline. Plus, it has a touch of comedy that makes it more entertaining.

Additionally, each member of Voltron team has interesting character that brings unique flavor to the group. For example, Shiro is the determined leader, Hunks loves to eat, and Lance thinks he is a ladies man.

In terms of animation, IGN says it is "simply stunning." Right off the bat, viewers can easily tell the show was made by creators of The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. It is also refreshing to see hand-drawn TV show in the world full of CG animation.

Season 1 of Voltron is now available to stream on Netflix. As we mentioned earlier, Season 2 will air later this year.
