The upcoming Nexus 7 tablet from Google is all set to be released later this year, but there is no concrete release date featured just yet. Here are the speculated hardware specifications for the latest Android 7.0 powered tablet.
What you see here is the Google Nexus 7 (2012) model, which should give us a reasonable indication of what the latest iteration of the Nexus 7 tablet will look like when it arrives some time later this year. Google

Tablets might be shrinking in their market share as a consumer electronics device, but this does not mean that it is totally date. Google’s collection of Nexus devices do include a tablet, and the Google Nexus 7 is one tablet that has certainly been on the high end segment of the market. Over the years, there has been a fair number of Nexus tablets, and the name has more or less remained the same -- the Nexus 7. However, it is easy to differentiate one model from another through the model year. The latest Nexus 7 2017 is currently in the pipeline as rumors have it, and here we are with the latest details on its purported hardware specifications.

The previous iteration of the Nexus tablet was the Nexus 7 (2012), where it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Well, obviously the Nexus 7 2017 will run on the latest version of Android, which will be Android 7.0 Nougat, although chances are it will arrive with Android 7.1.1 Nougat or perhaps even Android 7.2 Nougat should that version be released before the Nexus 7 2017 hits the market officially.

Rumored hardware specifications for the Google Nexus 7 2017 will be a 7-inch AMOLED display that has 2,560 x 1,440 pixels resolution, making it more than a regular Full HD device. Underneath the hood runs a Snapdragon 820 chipset from Qualcomm which should provide it with more than adequate processing muscle, even though there is the Snapdragon 825 chipset which is set to be released for flagship Android-powered smartphones later this year. Other purported hardware specifications of the Nexus 7 2017 include 4GB of RAM as well as 64GB of internal memory. In terms of its camera, we have yet to see hardware manufacturers throw in dual cameras in a tablet, but chances are, that might just be in the pipeline later in the future -- assuming the tablet market holds out.

So far, there are reports on the ground that point to a 13MP sensor being used for its rear camera, although things have remained pretty quiet where the front-facing camera is concerned. The USB port on Nexus 7 2017 is widely expected to be of the Type C variety, and other standard trimmings in modern day mobile devices like a fingerprint scanner are also tipped to be part of the deal. One should also be able to expect a decent amount of battery life with the Nexus 7 2017 that will also support rapid charging capability.

What about Virtual Reality (VR)? Well, the next generation Nexus 7 2017 is widely tipped to come with the mechanism that can support a whole range of VR headsets, including the vaunted Daydream. We must also leave some wiggle room for the upcoming Nexus 7 device the possibility of it featuring Andromeda OS, but that remains on the rumor mill backburner for now.

In terms of pricing, we expect it to have the same price point as its predecessors, but there are reasons to believe that its name might also change -- will it be lumped under the Pixel line? Only time will be able to tell.
