Alien: Covenant Release Date & Cast: A New Android Named Walter; Six More Alien Movies Coming

Alien: Covenant looks set to be a huge movie when it is finally released, as there is just something about these xenomorphs that continue to have us return time and again. Perhaps there is this innate fear and sense of wonder in us concerning the unknown, but to see all of it fleshed out on the silver screen with realistic CGI (or robotics in the past)? That is certainly worth the entry ticket alone. After all, in space, no one can hear you scream. Fox continues to build up momentum to the Alien: Covenant movie by offering yet another sneak peek. This sneak peek is very, very short -- taking just less than 20 seconds of your time, where it introduces us to a brand new android who is named Walter. Obviously, Michael Fassbender will make a return to the silver screen as this new android, having played the role of an android in the previous Prometheus movie.

20th Century Fox uploaded the latest clip which will show how everyone is going to meet Walter this Friday on March 10. It does seem to be a sneak peek of another sneak peek -- if you get my drift. The clip itself is extremely brief, where it glosses over the different parts of Walter’s body in a close up manner while the audience will grasp a sense of who Walter is. Majority of it is done through his voice alone, which is another method of knowing whether the benchmark of a great actor is conveying the message through one’s voice alone. Walter will be different from David, the previous android in Prometheus, although word has been going around that he will be playing the roles of both David and Walter in Alien: Covenant.

We do know that David was torn into half at the end of Prometheus, and that would mean most of the tasks which David handled in that movie will now be what Walter would do in Alien: Covenant. Hopefully this particular outing would not be a stain on Michael Fassbender’s acting career in the way Assassin’s Creed failed to make it big at the box office.

Ridley Scott also mentioned that he is interested in making up to half a dozen more Alien movies. Now that’s a whole lot of movies to make, although chances are, all of them will be box office successes judging by the popularity of the franchise. If there would be more androids in the future, Michael Fassbender could land those plump roles as well -- which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Another interesting thing to take note of is the Weyland-Yutani Corp. logo that is shown right at the end of the teaser clip. Weyland-Yutani Corp. happens to be the organization or company that is responsible for the missions which we have all watched in previous Aliens movies, and those have proven to be huge disasters. Somehow, it does make one wonder whether all huge corporations like Umbrella and Weyland-Yutani control many aspects of humanity and yet does not have their best interests at heart. Perhaps this is a reflection of the times that we live in now.
